Computing
At Hillhouse Primary School, we aim to enable our learners to acquire the skills to be independent, confident and competent in a rapidly changing technological world. Children across the school have a clear understanding of how to stay safe online, as online safety is heavily promoted within the school and in the wider school community. As pupils progress through each Key Stage, they are equipped with the expertise needed to become fluent learners.
All children in KS2 have access to 1:1 chromebooks.
They are encouraged to apply skills learned within Computing lessons in different contexts, enabling them to problem-solve and further consolidate their knowledge. Children are empowered to think critically, behave safely and participate responsibly in our digital world.
The National Curriculum for Computing in England aims to ensure that all pupils:
- can understand and apply the principles and concepts of computer science, including data representation;
- can analyse problems and have repeated experience of writing computer programs in order to solve such problems;
- can evaluate and apply information technology;
- are responsible, competent, confident and creative users of information technology.
There is a particular emphasis on the skill of 'coding' and for children to use technology safety, respectfully and responsibly.

Digital Leaders
We have a great team of Digital Leaders at Hillhouse whose role is to review technology within the school, ensure the equipment is ready to use, ensure computers and Chromebooks are looked after and assist with technology during Collective Worship.
Another fun job of the Digital Leaders is to visit the BETT technology show in London!
Whilst at the show, children tried out new technology and spoke to industry leaders in how using technology can aid learning.
Here are some pictures from the day:
